Manisha Sinha is the James L. and Shirley A. Draper Chair in American History at the University of Connecticut and serves as President of the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic. Born in India, she earned her Ph.D. from Columbia University, where her dissertation was nominated for the Bancroft Prize.

She has authored groundbreaking monographs like The Slave’s Cause: A History of Abolition, longlisted for the National Book Award, and her latest book The Rise and Fall of the Second American Republic (2024). Her work explores intersections between:
