Manisha Gupte

Dr. Manisha Gupte is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Austin Peay State University (APSU), where she has directed a research program since 2020. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Kentucky’s College of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training in Cardiovascular Medicine at Vanderbilt University.

Her research investigates molecular mechanisms in obesity-related pathologies, including:

• GSK-3 signaling in diabetes and heart failure
• Cardiometabolic dysfunction in diet-induced obesity
• Therapeutic targets for hypertension and insulin resistance

Recent publications (2017–2025) demonstrate a consistent focus on in vivo models, kinase pathways, and cardiac metabolism, with articles in high-impact journals like Cells and JACC: Basic to Translational Science.

Dr. Gupte mentors 14+ students, with advisees winning grants (e.g., 2024 Student Research Grant) and presentation awards at regional conferences. Her lab (Sundquist Science Complex B208) supports active research in molecular cardiometabolic pathways.
