معرفی
Manisha Gupta serves as Professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department and Associate Dean for Graduate Students within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, holding joint appointments in both the Deans Office and academic department since her tenure-track appointment in September 2014.
Her educational qualifications include:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering from Yale University
- MS in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
- BEng in Instrumentation Engineering from Mumbai University, India
Dr. Gupta's research integrates optical materials, photonics, and device engineering with emphasis on biosensors for bio wearables and point-of-care diagnostics. Her group pioneers quantum materials development through density functional theory simulations and pulsed laser deposition techniques, targeting applications in diabetic wound monitoring, neuropathy detection, and industrial sensing. Key methodologies include nano pore-based electrochemical single-molecule detection, aerosol jet printed transistor biosensors, and large-area 2D material growth for optical/electronic systems.
As an educator, she delivers core courses including ECE 302 (Electronic Devices), ECE 450 (Nanoscale Phenomena in Electronic Devices), and ECE 750 (Devices for Sensing Applications), focusing on semiconductor physics, nanoscale device scaling, and advanced fabrication techniques for next-generation sensing platforms.
