Chirag Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, affiliated with the College of Engineering and Materials Science & Engineering. His research focuses on wide-band-gap (GaN, SiC) and ultra-wide-band-gap (GaOx, C) semiconductor materials and devices, addressing challenges in power electronics, communications, bio-electronics, and quantum applications. He designs novel devices like transistors, diodes, LEDs, and lasers using advanced fabrication techniques and material characterization.
Education includes a Ph.D. (2018) and M.S. (2016) from UC Santa Barbara, and a B.Tech. (2013) from IIT Kanpur. He has taught courses including ECE 548 (Integrated Circuit Design), ECE 340 (Electronic Circuits I), and various research supervision courses.
Research interests span semiconductor device physics, optoelectronics, and quantum applications. Recent work emphasizes high-voltage HEMTs, UV lasers, and GaN-based devices. Articles highlight advancements in quantum dots, heterojunction diodes, and strain-engineered materials.
