معرفی
Manish Sagar is a Professor of Medicine at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in HIV-1 pathogenesis, viral transmission mechanisms, and immune correlates of protection. His research focuses on understanding HIV-1 genetic bottlenecks during transmission, maternal-infant transmission dynamics via breast milk, and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). He holds academic positions in the Department of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) and is affiliated with the Boston University Genome Science Institute and the Providence/Boston Center for AIDS Research (CFAR).
Education: B.S. from Columbia University and M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He actively mentors graduate students in infectious diseases and HIV research.
Research Interests: HIV-1 transmission biology, immune evasion strategies, maternal-infant transmission prevention, and vaccine development targeting HIV envelope proteins. His work integrates virology, immunology, and clinical epidemiology to address global health challenges.
Grants & Funding: Leads multiple NIH-funded projects, including studies on HIV-1 mucosal transmission, opioid impacts on viral reservoirs, and ADCC in mother-to-child transmission. Serves on NIH study sections and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation review committee.
Labs & Teams: Directs a lab investigating HIV transmission and immune responses, collaborating with institutions like Harvard Medical School and Columbia University. Engaged in translational research to bridge basic science and clinical applications.
