معرفی
Professor Manfred Curbach is a leading structural engineering researcher at Technische Universität Dresden specializing in advanced concrete technologies. As Principal Investigator of the ongoing DFG Transregio TRR 280 and applicant for the 2024 project on carbon yarn bond behavior (Project ID 549871995), he drives innovations in carbon concrete construction with material-minimized design strategies.
His research focuses on:
- Textile-reinforced concrete systems
- Bond mechanics between carbon fibers and concrete matrices
- Multiaxial stress behavior of high-performance concretes
- Fire resistance and impact loading of composite structures
- Lightweight construction through bionic design principles
Professor Curbach has directed major collaborative initiatives including SFB 528 on textile reinforcements and SPP 1542 on lightweight concrete. His experimental and numerical work establishes foundational methodologies for carbon concrete applications, particularly in reducing anchorage lengths through yarn profiling and optimizing crack control. Current projects integrate computed tomography and large-scale testing to validate structural performance under extreme loads.
Notable honors include the fib Medal of Merit and German Concrete Award for advancing sustainable construction materials. As TRR 280 speaker, he coordinates cross-institutional research teams developing design codes for carbon-reinforced infrastructure. His leadership extends to DFG priority programs on impact resistance (GRK 2250) and computed tomography facilities for structural analysis.
