Professor Lothar Kroll serves at Chemnitz University of Technology within the Institute of Lightweight Structures, holding the Chair of Lightweight Structures/Plastics Processing. His research focuses on advanced composite materials and manufacturing technologies for lightweight applications.
His research interests span lightweight structural engineering, composite material systems, and advanced plastics processing techniques. Professor Kroll specializes in developing innovative solutions for hybrid multilayer composites, fiber-reinforced plastics, and concrete element manufacturing with variable-axial fiber architecture.
His project portfolio demonstrates significant expertise in

- Injection molding of fixed glass fiber preforms

Professor Kroll currently leads the Transregio Collaborative Research Center TRR 402 on intelligent production technologies for plastic lightweight structures and has managed numerous completed research projects funded by the DFG.
