Prof. Dr. Manfred Claassen is a Principal Investigator and Professor at the University of Tübingen, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine I. His research focuses on clinical bioinformatics and machine learning in translational single-cell biology, aiming to identify and molecularly characterize rare cell populations in health and disease.
The Claassen Lab employs an integrated experimental and machine learning approach to analyze high-dimensional single-cell data, with applications in immune and cancer biology. Current projects include spatial drug activity profiling using RNA velocity, T cell exhaustion mechanisms in chronic infections, and biomarker discovery via single-cell RNA-Seq and mass spectrometry imaging.
Laboratory members include Postdoctoral Researchers and PhD Students such as:
- Sepideh Babaei (Postdoc)
- Christoph Hoffmann (Postdoc)
- Sebastian Bischoff
- Matthias Bruhns
- Wenjie Fan
- Pouria Laghaee
- Soham Mukherjee
- Jan Schleicher
- Vivek Sehra
- Maximilian Wirth
- Marcello Zago
Alumni from the Claassen Lab include researchers now at institutions such as ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, Roche, and Genentech, reflecting the lab's impact on training computational biologists and bioinformaticians.
