Mandy Swann is a University Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St Edmund's College. She holds a PhD, MPhil, and BEd from the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on anti-determinist pedagogy, professional learning, and parental involvement in education. She leads the Learning without Limits initiative, challenging fixed-ability beliefs through transformative teaching practices. Mandy has co-authored influential works like Creating Learning without Limits, translated into multiple languages, and established the Learning without Limits Network to support educators globally.
Her editorial roles include contributions to Reflective Teaching, Forum, and founding Cambridge Curiosity and Imagination (CCI), a charity promoting arts-based learning. Mandy has held key roles such as Senior MPhil Examiner and Director of Studies in Education at St Edmund's College. Her research spans teacher professionalism, student perceptions, and innovative school development, with projects funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
Mandy’s teaching includes supervision of doctoral students and involvement in masters programs in Educational Research, Leadership, and PGCE training. She collaborates with schools, policymakers, and communities to bridge theory and practice in education, emphasizing inclusive and creative approaches to learning.
