Manaswini Sarangi

Manaswini Sarangi is a Research Fellow in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the Dus Lab and the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. She earned her PhD from JNCASR in Bangalore, India.

Research Interests focus on evolutionary biology, genetics, and behavioral ecology, particularly in Drosophila melanogaster. Her work explores mechanisms of sexual selection, lifespan evolution, inter-locus conflict, and larval competitive ability under selective pressures. She also investigates dietary influences on animal behavior and sensory adaptation strategies in model organisms.

Publications highlight studies on evolutionary dynamics, sexual conflict resolution, and behavioral adaptations in fruit flies and rats. Her research often integrates experimental evolution, population genetics, and ecological modeling to uncover how organisms adapt to environmental pressures.
