Dr. Malte Lehmann serves as a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education at the University of Münster, holding the position of Senior Teacher in Higher Education since May 2024. His career spans research and teaching roles at Humboldt University of Berlin and Ruhr University Bochum, with a focus on primary mathematics instruction and teacher training frameworks.
His academic credentials include a Doctorate in Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) from Ruhr University Bochum and Humboldt University of Berlin (2012–2018), preceded by teacher certification for grammar schools and comprehensive schools at Ruhr University Bochum (2005–2012).
Lehmann’s research centers on evidence-based teacher development, specifically analyzing productive practices for managing typical mathematics teaching tasks. His work emphasizes practical classroom applications in primary education, bridging theoretical frameworks with instructional strategies to enhance mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
His 2025 systematic review in ZDM - Mathematics Education synthesizes global research on teacher professional development, revealing trends toward context-specific interventions and scalable models for improving classroom task implementation. This reflects a broader shift toward practice-oriented educational research with direct pedagogical applications.
Lehmann actively contributes to the Mathematics Center Münster (MaZ) and Development Research group, driving initiatives that promote mathematical potential across diverse learner populations. He serves in the Primary School Working Group of the Society for Mathematics Education (GDM) since 2018 and holds longstanding GDM membership.
