Dr. Malte Jansen is a Lecturer in Energy and Sustainability at the University of Sussex Business School, affiliated with the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU). He also holds a Visiting Researcher position at Imperial College London's Centre for Environmental Policy and a Special Consultant role at the Technical University of Denmark.

Malte’s research focuses on energy markets, finance, and policy, emphasizing net-zero emissions through innovative collaboration. His work includes techno-economic analysis of offshore wind, green hydrogen production, and contracts for difference (CfDs). He investigates how regulatory frameworks can support renewable energy deployment and the economic viability of subsidy-free renewable projects.
His publications highlight trends in offshore wind competitiveness, hydrogen cost dynamics, and power market design. He has secured over £1.5 million in research grants and consultancy services, including projects for BEIS, UKERC, and the German National Organisation for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.
Malte co-founded PowerSwarm, a network connecting 650+ energy professionals. He has delivered numerous invited talks and has been cited in policy documents across the UK and Germany.
