Malin Arvidsson is an Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Thematic Studies (TEMA), part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on historical institutional practices, child welfare systems, and social justice issues. She has authored and edited works on the history of Swedish orphanages, truth commissions addressing minority rights, and biographies of influential social activists like Nelly Thüring. Her recent publications (2023-2025) explore topics ranging from historical child rights advocacy to the role of women in shaping urban infrastructure through municipal politics.
Her research integrates interdisciplinary perspectives on historical accountability, using case studies from Scandinavian contexts to analyze how institutions address past injustices. She has contributed to edited volumes examining 400 years of orphanage history and co-edited collections on truth commissions for marginalized groups such as Tornedalians. Arvidsson's work bridges historical analysis with contemporary debates on reparative justice and institutional reform.
