Malin Alsved is an Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Department of Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology. She is affiliated with multiple profile areas including Engineering Health, Aerosols, and Nanoscience & Semiconductor Technology. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to Health, Clean Energy, and Climate Action.
Research focuses on airborne disease transmission in healthcare environments, particularly understanding viral/aerosol dynamics in hospitals. Current projects include investigating influenza/RV virus presence in hospital wards and optimizing ventilation systems for infection control during surgeries. She leads two active grants: 'Indoor environments reducing airborne infections' (FORMAS, 2023-2027) and 'Postdoc-stöd Arbetsmiljö' (AFA-insurances, 2023-2025).
Key contributions include discovering airborne winter vomiting viruses near vomiting patients and analyzing SARS-CoV-2 variants' aerosol behavior. Awards include Levipriset 2025 and multiple conference presentation prizes. Active in media engagements explaining airborne transmission risks and participates in international workshops on aerosol modeling.
