Malcolm Steinberg

Malcolm Steinberg is an Associate Professor (on sabbatical) and Director of Professional Programs and Accreditation at Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Health Sciences. He holds a cross appointment with the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), where he works as a Physician Epidemiologist in the Division of STI/HIV Prevention and Control. • Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health, University of the Witwatersrand

Research & Expertise: Dr. Steinberg specializes in occupational health, epidemiology, program management, HIV/AIDS, and public health consulting. He leads a 5-year CIHR-funded study on acute HIV infection in gay men and co-leads a Uganda-based study on HPV self-collection for cervical cancer screening. His career includes managing national health programs in South Africa and founding an occupational health NGO.

Teaching: Teaches HSCI 900 G100 Core Concepts and Practice for Public Health I in Fall 2025.

Professional Experience:

• Co-founded and led an occupational health NGO supporting South African trade unions
• Established an HIV/AIDS consulting firm acquired by Abt Associates
• Managed the National HIV/AIDS Programme at South Africa’s Medical Research Council
