Malay Haldar is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He is affiliated with the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute, Institute for Immunology, and Penn Center for Genome Integrity (PCGI). His lab focuses on the intersection of innate immunity and solid tumor biology.
- Education: MBBS (Medicine) from B.J. Medical College, University of Pune (2001); PhD in Human Genetics from University of Utah (2007); Residency in Clinical Pathology from Washington University in St. Louis (2012).
Research interests center on the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS), including monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells (DC), and their roles in tumor microenvironment regulation. His work explores how MPS heterogeneity influences cancer progression, metastasis, and immunotherapy outcomes through interactions with lymphocytes and signaling pathways.
Recent publications highlight studies on tumor-immune interactions in sarcomas and medulloblastomas, retinoic acid signaling, and transcriptional regulation in macrophages. Scientific affiliations include leadership roles in physician scientist training programs and membership in elite research institutes.
