Claudia Jakubzick is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth College. Her research focuses on understanding the functional roles of mononuclear phagocytes (macrophages, monocytes, dendritic cells) in homeostasis and inflammation. She leads a lab exploring immune responses in cancer, transplant rejection, and infectious diseases.
Education:
- B.S. Microbiology, University of Florida (1995-1998)
- Ph.D. Immunology, University of Michigan (1999-2003)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, Mount Sinai School of Medicine (2004-2008)
Research Interests:
- Mononuclear phagocyte heterogeneity and functional specialization
- Role of natural antibodies in cancer immunosurveillance
- Immune response regulation in inflammation and cancer
- Cross-species comparisons of macrophage subsets
Recent Work: Dr. Jakubzick's studies investigate macrophage subset coordination in immune responses, chemokine-driven tissue-specific functions, and B cell contributions to early cancer detection. Her lab uses mouse models and single-cell technologies to bridge gaps in human immunology understanding.
Professional Contributions:
- Organizer of the 2022 Keystone Conference on Myeloid Cells
- Member of the American Association of Immunologists' Minority Affairs Committee
Lab Team: Current members include postdoctoral fellows (Aishwarya Dighal, Soubhik Ghosh, Reza Hosseini), a graduate student (Xin Li), and a lab technician (Steph Kalinowski).
