Maksym Polyakov is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment, The University of Western Australia. He holds a Master's from KTH (Stockholm) and a PhD from Auburn University. His research integrates ecology and economics to study natural resource management, land use change, and ecological restoration. He has held postdoctoral positions at Auburn University and North Carolina State University.
- Education: MS from KTH (Stockholm), PhD in Applied Economics from Auburn University
- Previous Roles: Research Associate at North Carolina State University (2008), Research Fellow at Auburn University (2005–2007)
Research Interests: Biodiversity conservation, bio-economic modeling, ecosystem valuation, and spatial econometrics. His work focuses on the economic implications of land use decisions, urban forestry, and water-sensitive infrastructure.
Current Projects: Includes optimal revegetation strategies, valuing urban trees, and water-sensitive urban design. These projects aim to bridge ecological and economic perspectives for sustainable resource management.
- Teaching: Courses include SCIE3367 (Decision Tools for NRM), economics of land use change, and spatial bio-economic modeling.
