Jesko Hirschfeld

Prof. Dr. Jesko Hirschfeld holds Visiting Professorships in Environmental Economics at Humboldt University of Berlin (since 2022) and Landscape Economics at Technical University of Berlin (since 2002). He previously conducted research at the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW), Berlin, and earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Göttingen (2001–2002). His research focuses on ecological-economic valuation of ecosystem services, climate change economics, policy simulation models, and sustainable management of land/water resources, coastal zones, and urban areas. He has authored/co-authored over 50 publications since 1999, including influential works on groundwater sustainability, urban green space valuation, and climate adaptation strategies. His teaching includes environmental policy courses at TU Berlin and supervising student theses. He currently advises on climate resilience and resource economics at the Albrecht Daniel Thaer Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences.
