Gilles Jean-Louis

Gilles Jean-Louis is a researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ in the Department of Economics under the Environment and Society division. His work focuses on economic valuation methodologies and climate adaptation strategies.

• Education: Diploma in Environmental Sciences (Socioeconomics) from the University of Koblenz-Landau (2007-2016)

Research Interests: Gilles specializes in economic valuation of ecosystem services, discrete choice experiments, and deliberative monetary valuation. His research addresses climate change adaptation and nature-based solutions, contributing to environmental policy and sustainability assessments.

Current Projects: Active in the BIOcean5D initiative, analyzing marine biodiversity valuation across spatial, temporal, and human scales.

Collaborations: Works within the Land Use, Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity working group at UFZ, previously engaged with Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) and the Institute for Ecological Economic Research (IÖW).
