Maja Vestad is a Research Fellow at the Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law, University of Oslo, conducting research on forensic evidence technologies, DNA analysis, and the socio-legal impacts of terrorism. Her PhD project, 'DNA evidence, technology and criminological horizons,' examines forensic science practices and their implications for legal certainty. She leads projects like PRIDE25JUNE: RIPPLES, analyzing the ripple effects of the 2022 terror attack, and contributes to LAW22JULY: RIPPLES, focusing on memorialization after the 2011 attacks.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Criminology (University of Oslo)
- Bachelor’s degrees in Criminology and Anthropology (La Trobe University, Melbourne)
Research Interests: Forensic DNA technologies, crime scene methodologies, digital criminology, and socio-legal responses to terrorism. Her work bridges technological advancements with ethical, legal, and societal implications of evidence handling.
