Maja Holm is an Associate Professor and Lecturer at Sophiahemmet University's Department of Nursing Science. She specializes in palliative care, focusing on improving support for seriously ill patients and their families. Her research develops tools for healthcare professionals and evaluates interventions to enhance caregiver preparedness and family communication. Holm teaches in specialist nursing programs and has clinical experience in inpatient palliative care and advanced home care.
Current projects include a postdoctoral fellowship in the Family Talk Intervention for families with seriously ill children, co-supervision of doctoral studies on metastatic prostate cancer and web-based caregiver support (narstaende.se), and contributions to the CSNAT/SNAP support needs assessment tools. She holds a PhD from 2016, with a thesis on caregiver preparedness in palliative home care.
Her work emphasizes patient-centered approaches, addressing emotional and practical challenges faced by families. Holm's publications span 2020-2022, focusing on caregiver support, social networks in bereavement, and early symptom identification in oncology.
