Maja Elstad is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo, affiliated with the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine. She leads the Human Integrative Cardiovascular Control research group, focusing on cardiovascular physiology, oscillations, and reflex mechanisms. Her academic journey includes a Medical Doctorate (MD) in 2004 and a PhD in 2009, both from the University of Oslo. She has held positions as a Postdoc at the University of Bristol (2010) and the University of Oslo (2011–2014), and since 2014, she has been a Researcher supported by the Young Research Talent program of the Research Council of Norway.
**Research Interests**: Her work explores cardiovascular physiology, including stroke volume measurement, cerebral and skin circulation dynamics, and autoregulation mechanisms. She investigates how respiratory patterns influence cardiovascular parameters, with a focus on healthy human physiology and clinical applications like therapeutic hypothermia in neonatal care.
