Hallgeir Elstad

Hallgeir Elstad is Professor of Norwegian Church History at the University of Oslo's Faculty of Theology and serves as Dean of Studies and Education.

Education includes Dr. theol. (University of Oslo, 1998), MA in History (Volda College, 2004), MA in University Pedagogics (Oslo, 2000), and ordination in the Norwegian Church (1990).

Research examines Nordic religious transformations, particularly church-state dynamics, Reformation historiography, and Protestantism's societal role. Recent publications analyze biblical reception in welfare states and WWII ecclesiastical conflicts.

Administrative roles include former Rector of Northern Norway Educational Centre of Practical Theology and professorship at University of Tromsø.
