Maithreyi Gopalan

Maithreyi Gopalan is an Associate Professor of Education and Public Policy at Penn State. She is also a co-funded faculty member of the Social Science Research Institute. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary, policy-relevant analysis of racial and socioeconomic disparities in student outcomes, employing experimental and quasi-experimental methods. She applies psychological insights to address child and adolescent development challenges through educational and social policies.

Dr. Gopalan earned her doctorate from the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, Bloomington. Her recent work explores the impact of child health policies and adverse adolescent mental health on long-term educational attainment and life trajectories. She aims to integrate a health disparities lens into this research to better understand systemic inequities.
