Mahmudur Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He holds a PhD from Mississippi State University (2016), an MS from Montana State University (2013), and a BS from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (2009). Prior to UTA, he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Purdue University (2021–2022) and a Research Scientist at NIOSH (2016–2021).
His research focuses on Transportation Safety, Virtual and Mixed Reality, Human-Robot Interaction, and Engineering Education. He has secured grants totaling over $27,000 from UTA and external agencies, including projects on mixed reality in engineering education, teamwork enhancement in STEM, and elbow exoskeleton evaluations.
Rahman teaches courses such as Human Factors Engineering, Safety Engineering, and Cognitive Systems Engineering. He advises PhD and Master’s students, serving as dissertation chair for Eshwara Prasad Sridhar and Matin Ghasempour Anaraki. His work spans 100+ peer-reviewed publications in journals like Accident Analysis and Prevention and IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems.
