Mahfuja Malik is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Sacred Heart University, where she has taught since 2014. She provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in financial accounting, governmental and nonprofit accounting, and managerial accounting. From 2019 to 2022, she served as Director of the Master's Program in Accounting.
Dr. Malik earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Banking from the University of Dhaka (2002) and Master of Business Administration in Finance from the same institution (2004). After receiving a Fulbright scholarship, she completed an MBA in International Finance at Brandeis University (2009, Outstanding Graduate Student award) and a PhD in Accounting at Boston University (2014).
Her research centers on business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability within accounting. She investigates how ethical considerations influence corporate governance and executive decision-making, particularly regarding compensation structures and corporate responses to crises. Her work bridges theoretical accounting frameworks with real-world business ethics applications.
Recent publications (2022-2023) demonstrate consistent focus on ethical business practices, examining CSR's role in executive compensation, product recall impacts on CEO pay in the automobile industry, and peer pressure effects on technology adoption. These studies contribute significantly to sustainability discourse in accounting literature.
