Mahdi Hesari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at SUNY Oswego, leading the Hesari Lab. His research focuses on electrochemistry, spectroscopy, and nanoscopy of nanomaterials such as atomically precise metal nanoclusters and semiconductive crystals for energy conversion applications like light harvesting and emission. He holds a Ph.D. in Analytical/Physical Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario, with postdoctoral training at Cornell University and the City University of New York.
- Research Interests: Single-entity nanoelectrocatalysis, synthesis of metal nanoclusters, semiconductor nanocrystal characterization, and photoelectrochemical water splitting.
His lab actively engages undergraduate and graduate students in projects involving nanomaterial synthesis, electrochemical analysis, and advanced microscopy techniques. Notable achievements include pioneering work on gold nanocluster electrochemiluminescence and developing methodologies for quantifying nanoscale reaction dynamics.
- Awards: UG Analytical Chemistry Award, ACS Analytical Division recognition, SUNY Oswego grants.
Publications span high-impact journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Nature Protocols, and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, emphasizing nanomaterials for energy applications and analytical techniques.
