Mahbuba Jahan

Prof. Dr. Mahbuba Jahan is a Professor in the Department of Entomology at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh. Her extensive research career spans over three decades, focusing primarily on agricultural entomology and pest management in rice and other crops. She conducts field and laboratory studies at BAU's entomological facilities and has collaborated with the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI).

Dr. Jahan's research interests center on agricultural entomology, particularly pest management strategies for rice crops. Her work extensively examines brown planthopper resurgence phenomena, insecticide efficacy and resistance, biological control methods, and integrated pest management approaches. She investigates the complex interactions between insecticides, pest populations, and natural enemies in rice ecosystems. Her research also extends to vegetable crop protection, including brinjal and bitter gourd, as well as exploring botanical alternatives to synthetic pesticides.
