Maha H.A. Hussain

Maha H.A. Hussain is the Genevieve E. Teuton Professor of Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, holding leadership roles as Deputy Director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and leader of the GU Oncology Program. She specializes in genitourinary oncology, with a focus on prostate and bladder cancer. Dr. Hussain completed her medical training at Baghdad University and advanced training in Hematology-Oncology at Wayne State University.

Her research emphasizes novel therapeutics and clinical trials in prostate cancer, particularly metastatic hormone-sensitive and castration-resistant forms. She has authored over 285 publications and serves on editorial boards for journals like Bladder Cancer and HemOnc Today. Dr. Hussain has led national initiatives including roles at SWOG, the NCI Prostate Cancer Task Force, and the FDA Oncology Drug Advisory Committee.

Notable honors include being named a Giants of Cancer Care (2015), recipient of the Bernard Schwartz Lectureship (2020), and Castle Connolly Exceptional Women in Medicine (2017). She currently leads active clinical trials such as SWOG 2312 (cabazitaxel/carboplatin in mCRPC) and ETCTN 10487 (lutetium Lu 177 for neuroendocrine-differentiated prostate cancer).
