Maguette Camara

Maguette Camara is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Dance, based in New York City. He is a renowned West African choreographer, musician, and educator with extensive international experience. His career began with the Ballet Bougarabou Dance Company, through which he performed and conducted workshops across Morocco, Canada, Senegal, and the US. Notably, he represented Senegal at the De Jeunes Createurs festival. Camara has performed at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Rolling Stones World Tour, while also contributing to Disney's Epcot Center and the World Trade Center Jazz Festival. He currently serves as artistic director of Manekadang-Dance and Drum.

His teaching focuses on African Dance I & II, blending cultural heritage with contemporary expression. While no formal academic awards are listed, his artistic contributions reflect significant recognition in the performing arts sector. Collaborations span theater, music, and large-scale international events, showcasing interdisciplinary artistry.
