Magloire KI-ZERBO is a Full Professor of Contemporary History and Religious Phenomena at the Université Joseph KI-ZERBO de Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He holds an MA (1988) and PhD (1993) in History from the Universities of Paris 1 and Paris IV Sorbonne, France. His research focuses on West African history, particularly the History of Christianity, political dynamics, and historiographical methodologies.
Key roles include Director of the Center for Studies and Research in Humanities and Social Sciences (CERLESHS) (2008–2015), Head of the Research Team on Religions and Societies in Africa (since 2011), and Publication Director of the 'Cahiers du CELHTO' (since 2017). He has been a Fulbright fellow (2003–2004) and recipient of the WARA research grant (2002).
His publications explore themes such as NGO impact in postcolonial contexts, cultural models in evangelization, and democratic legacies in West Africa. He contributes to academic governance through editorial roles, including the journal 'Histoire, Monde et Cultures religieuses.'
Research interests span the intersection of religion, politics, and cultural identity in Africa, with a focus on colonial and postcolonial trajectories. His work emphasizes methodological rigor in historical scholarship and the role of academia in shaping regional narratives.
