Magi Sque is a Professor of Clinical Practice and Innovation at the University of Wolverhampton’s Faculty of Education Health & Wellbeing, with a joint appointment at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. She holds a PhD in organ donation and transplantation from the University of Southampton (1996) and has extensive clinical experience as a registered nurse specializing in oncological and palliative care. Her research focuses on psychological and social aspects of organ donation, bereavement care, and healthcare ethics. She has served as International Chair of the European Platform for Organ Donation and Transplantation (ELPAT) Deceased Donation Working Group (2008–2013) and has provided expert testimony to the UK House of Lords on organ donation policies.
Education highlights include a BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies from the University of Surrey (1985), certification in Oncological Nursing from the Royal Marsden Hospital (1984), and Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy (FEHA, 2007). She has led numerous funded research projects, including studies on bereaved families’ experiences and organ donation decision-making. Professional memberships span nursing, ethics, and transplantation organizations, with active roles in journal peer review and grant evaluation.
Her research outputs include over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, focusing on topics like donor family experiences, transplantation ethics, and healthcare policy. Awards include recognition for her PhD work and roles in shaping international donation practices. She actively promotes organ donation awareness through community initiatives like the National Thanksgiving and Transplant Service and supervises doctoral students in healthcare-related studies.
