Maggie Panning Pearce is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Rowan University's College of Science & Mathematics. She holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed postdoctoral work at Stanford University.
- Research Focus: Cell Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience, and Pharmacology
- Courses Taught: Biology of Aging, Biotechnology Lab, Genetics, Neurogenetics at Rowan and St. Joseph's University
Her research explores prion-like protein aggregation mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Huntington's disease. Current work examines how pathological protein aggregates propagate between cells and synapses, utilizing Drosophila models and phage hunter laboratory systems.
Key collaborations include work with the Kopito Lab at Stanford, focusing on ER-associated degradation and glial-mediated disease propagation. She mentors both graduate and undergraduate students in experimental neuroscience and molecular genetics.
