Maggie Pafford

Maggie Pafford is the Interim Department Chair of General Dentistry and a Clinical Assistant Professor at East Carolina University's School of Dental Medicine. She also serves as the inaugural Dental Director of an interprofessional free clinic in North Carolina's Outer Banks. Her roles include Associate Dean for Student Affairs (2022–2023) and Group Practice Leader (2016–2022). Dr. Pafford earned her DMD and BA (Chemistry, magna cum laude) from East Carolina University, followed by an AEGD residency.

Her research and professional focus centers on general dentistry education, practice management, and expanding access to care through community initiatives like Dental Discovery Day. She leads courses such as the 8×30 'Practice of General Dentistry' and pioneered the Outer Banks charitable clinic for uninsured patients.

Dr. Pafford is active in professional organizations including the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and American Association of Women Dentists. Her career blends clinical leadership with advocacy for student well-being and interprofessional collaboration.
