Magdalena Wicher

Magdalena Wicher is a Research Fellow and doctoral candidate at the Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities (SVT), Faculty of Humanities, University of Bergen. She leads the work package on societal, scientific, democratic and economic benefits of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in the SUPER MoRRI project and teaches at Alpen Adria University of Klagenfurt while participating in Austria's 'Lectures for Future' initiative.

Her educational background includes psychology with environmental psychology and gender studies specialization from Karl-Franzens-University of Graz, where her diploma thesis contributed to the 'Build to Satisfy' energy/climate research project.

Wicher's research centers on RRI governance frameworks and their societal impacts, with strong intersections in gender policy, queer STS, and environmental psychology. As a member of the 'Techno-Science & Societal Transformation' research group and RRI Plattform Austria's Queer STS working group, she examines institutional change mechanisms and knowledge transfer dynamics in research ecosystems.

Her 2024 publications reveal critical trends: analyzing gender policy transformation through knowledge brokers and dissecting climate research funding implementation challenges, highlighting her dual focus on structural equity and policy-practice translation in transformative research.

Current research involves the SUPER MoRRI project monitoring RRI impacts, building on prior IFZ research center work (2014-2017) in Women*-Technology-Environment, Energy/Climate, and Food Systems domains. She co-edited the 2020 QueerSTS Forum volume on pandemic-era queer-feminist issues and serves on the 'Network Psychology and Environment' association board.
