Magdalena Hulth is a Lecturer at the Department of Child and Youth Studies, Stockholm University. Her work focuses on preschool childhoods, historical perspectives of preschool policy, and the role of preschool in shaping societal norms about children and childhood. She also investigates sexuality education in Sweden from 1882 to 2014, analyzing how norms and educational practices have evolved over time.
Her research projects include a VR-funded initiative (Swedish Sex Education 1882-2014), co-led with Prof. Anne-Li Lindgren and Dr. Sara Backman Prytz, exploring the historical development of sexuality norms in education. She examines how preschool environments act as both socialization spaces and discursive arenas for educators and children’s sexual knowledge.
Magdalena teaches in the Programme in Early Childhood Education and contributes to the Section for Early Childhood Education. She is based at Svante Arrhenius väg 21A, Room 325, Stockholm.
