Dr. Madeline Petrillo is an Associate Professor in Criminology and Interim Lead of the Centre for Communities and Social Justice at the University of Greenwich's School of Law and Criminology. She joined the university in January 2021 after eleven years as a Probation Officer in London and New Zealand, including leadership of the Professional Qualification in Probation programme.
Her teaching and research address desistance mechanisms, rehabilitation frameworks, gendered experiences in criminal justice, offender pathways, and community-based justice solutions. Petrillo's practitioner background informs her critical examination of systemic inequities.
Qualifications include a PhD from the University of Portsmouth, MSc in Criminology from LSE, BA in Modern Languages from Bristol, and professional certifications in Probation Studies and Integrative Counselling.
