Madeline E. Rivera

Dr. Madeline E. Rivera is an Assistant Professor of Animal Science at Berry College, joining the Department of Animal Science in 2024. She is affiliated with the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences and is actively engaged in teaching and research in animal science, particularly beef cattle nutrition and pedagogy.

Her research focuses on the interplay between nutrition, animal health, and performance in beef cattle. She investigates in vitro nutrient availability in feedstuffs and additives to enhance nutrient efficiency and promote environmental stewardship. She is also passionate about innovative pedagogical approaches to improve student engagement in animal science education.

Her recent publications center on the use of virginiamycin in growing and finishing steers, examining its effects on ruminal acidosis, liver health, growth performance, and feed intake. These studies reflect a strong emphasis on animal health, production efficiency, and sustainable beef systems.

Dr. Rivera is a member of several professional organizations, including:

Dr. Rivera maintains an active research program and is contributing to advancements in ruminant nutrition and agricultural education at Berry College.
