Dr. Allison Meyer is Associate Professor of Nutritional Physiology/Ruminant Nutrition at the University of Missouri's Division of Animal Sciences. Her research investigates maternal metabolic efficiency effects on cow productivity and offspring development, focusing on nutritional strategies to mitigate gestational nutrient restrictions in beef cattle.
Her research program examines maternal-fetal nutrient transfer mechanisms, developmental programming impacts on offspring efficiency, and intestinal function relationships with feed efficiency. Recent publications demonstrate methodological approaches combining metabolic profiling, ultrasonography, and molecular analysis to understand nutritional physiology in ruminants.
Dr. Meyer teaches courses in animal nutrition and physiology while mentoring graduate students in beef cattle research. Her studies have practical implications for improving reproductive efficiency and calf performance through strategic nutritional management of beef herds.
She collaborates extensively with agricultural extension services to translate research findings into practical management recommendations for cattle producers.
