Prof. Madeleine de Cock Buning is a Professor of Law at Utrecht University, affiliated with the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law within the Utrecht University School of Law. Her expertise spans Copyright Law, Media & Communications Law, Digital Media Governance, and Regulation of Disruptive Technologies. She focuses on future-proof multidimensional approaches balancing fundamental rights with technological advancements.
Education: PhD in Law from the University of Amsterdam (1992–1998).
Key Roles: Chair of the EU High-Level Expert Group on Fake News (2018), Chair of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA), and Honorary Judge at The Hague Court of Appeal (2010–2020).
