Madeleine Juhrmann is a Research Fellow at Flinders University's Research Centre for Palliative Care, Death and Dying (RePaDD), with dual appointments as Full Member in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and Adjunct Academic in the College of Medicine and Public Health. She also holds external positions as Honorary Research Fellow at HammondCare and Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Sydney, reflecting her significant contributions to palliative care research across multiple institutions.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Medicine (2024) and Master of Public Health (2018) from the University of Sydney, along with a Bachelor of Paramedic Science with Honours from Flinders University (2016). Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked across clinical, policy, and research roles in paramedicine, aged care, and palliative care, giving her a unique perspective on healthcare systems.
Juhrmann's research focuses on synthesizing evidence and creating practical guidance materials for healthcare workers, with special emphasis on palliative paramedicine, public health approaches to palliative care, and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions. Her doctoral work explored paramedics' role in delivering palliative and end-of-life care in Australian communities, bridging emergency medicine with palliative care services.
Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory in developing frameworks for palliative care integration within emergency services and community settings, with growing attention to Indigenous health perspectives and digital health information systems. The research shows increasing sophistication from foundational work on paramedic roles to more complex systems-level interventions and implementation science.

Juhrmann actively collaborates with CareSearch project team to translate research into practical resources for healthcare workers, patients, and families. Her work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities on dementia care pathways represents an important expansion of her research into culturally appropriate palliative care. She maintains strong connections between academic research and clinical practice through her ongoing engagement with paramedic services and aged care sectors.
