Maciej Fortuna

Maciej Fortuna is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Jazz and Stage Music, Academy of Music in Poznan, where he has been employed since 2016. He teaches jazz trumpet, improvisation, and jazz combo ensembles, blending academic instruction with active artistic practice.

His research and artistic work focuses on expanding the sonic possibilities of the trumpet through cross-genre experimentation, multimedia concerts, and innovative projects like volcanic jazz performances and large-scale compositions for 100 trumpets. Notable achievements include:

• First jazz concert inside a volcano (2016)
• Reactivating the Poznańska Piętnastka orchestra (2017)
• Creating the annual Poznań Komeda Maraton (2019-present)

He runs his own label Fortuna Music and contributes to Jazz Poznan Association (2015-present). His work combines academic rigor with boundary-pushing creativity in improvised music.
