Mac Lockhart is a Democratic Innovations Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University's Institution for Social and Policy Studies, collaborating with Alan Gerber and Greg Huber. He earned his PhD in Political Science from the University of California San Diego in 2023.

His research focuses on public opinion, voter behavior, and representation in American elections. He specializes in combining surveys with administrative data to analyze how voters influence legislative accountability and explores policy preference alignment between citizens, candidates, and elected officials.
Mac has conducted large-scale field experiments on voter turnout, studied pandemic-era polarization in vote-by-mail debates, and investigated racial disparities in congressional representation. His work has been published in top journals including the American Journal of Political Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and British Journal of Political Science, alongside a conditional acceptance at Political Analysis and an R&R at the American Political Science Review.
