Prof. Dr. Maarten Hajer is a Professor at the Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University, and Director of the Urban Futures Studio. With a background in political science and urban planning, he has held roles at the University of Amsterdam (1998-2015), the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (Director-General, 2008-2015), and Stellenbosch University (Research Fellow, Centre for Sustainability Transitions). His work bridges academia, policy, and societal practice through futuring, deliberative governance, and sustainability transitions.
