MJ Kaufman

MJ Kaufman is a playwright and screenwriter based in New York City, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Dramatic Writing at NYU’s Tisch School of Arts. Their theatrical works have been produced at prominent venues such as the Public Theater, WP Theater, and Yale School of Drama, with translations in Moscow and Australia. Kaufman is also a founder of the Trans Lab Fellowship and has held residencies at institutions like the New Museum and MacDowell Colony.

Education: Kaufman graduated from Wesleyan University and Yale School of Drama, where they also taught playwriting. Their research and creative practice centers on contemporary theater, feminist narratives, and transgender artistic advocacy.
