Zizi Majid is a Lecturer in the Department of Drama at Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts, with an additional affiliation as Advising Faculty for Goldring Arts, Style and Culture Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She brings extensive professional theater experience to her academic role, having served as artistic director of Teater Ekamatra in Singapore for five years.
Majid holds an M.F.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from the National University of Singapore. Her academic credentials reflect her international perspective and commitment to both creative practice and scholarly engagement with theater and drama.
As a playwright, Majid's work advocates for a shared humanity through theater. Her creative practice spans playwriting, drama production, and arts journalism, with a focus on cultural storytelling that bridges diverse experiences and perspectives. Her teaching in Playwriting and Drama in Context draws directly on her professional experience as a working playwright.
