Mehmet Arslan is a Professor at Akdeniz University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops since 2024. He has served as Associate Professor (2018-present) and Assistant Professor (2014-2018) at the same institution, with additional managerial experience as Director of Vocational Schools (2012-2016, 2021-2022). His research focuses on agricultural sciences, plant breeding, and stress tolerance in forage crops like grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.).
- Doctorate: Akdeniz University, Tarla Bitkileri (2004-2008)
- Postgraduate: Akdeniz University, Tarla Bitkileri (2001-2003)
His research explores genetic diversity in grass pea, drought and salinity stress in crops like maize and sorghum, and seed coating technologies to enhance germination under stress. Key methods include EST-SSR marker genotyping, UHPLC-MS/MS toxin analysis, and organic fertilization experiments.
Recent publications (2017-2023) cover fatty acid composition, free amino acid profiles, and climatic adaptation in grass pea and forage crops. Studies span salinity mitigation with farmyard manure, exogenous salicylic acid applications, and genetic characterization of mutant populations.
