MC Forelle is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering & Society at the University of Virginia's School of Engineering and Applied Science. Their research focuses on the intersection of law, technology, and culture, with emphases on materiality, sustainability, and resistance practices. Current work examines software-enhanced automotive technologies, addressing challenges in repair, maintenance, and legal regimes.

Research interests include Science, Technology, and Society (STS); ethics in information technology; material cultures; and autonomous/smart consumer technologies. They held a Cornell Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship (2019–2022), the first based at Cornell Tech. Publications address legal barriers to automotive repair and the sociotechnical impacts of software-embedded systems.
Teaches courses on STS and engineering ethics, such as STS 4500 and STS 4600. Their work bridges technical, legal, and cultural dimensions, advocating for equitable technological practices.
