MARIA ISABEL MORAN CABANAS

Maria Isabel Moran Cabanas is a full Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Department of Galician Philology within the Faculty of Philology. Her research focuses on medieval Galician-Portuguese lyric poetry, particularly the Cancioneiro Geral compiled by Garcia de Resende. She holds a doctorate from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2000), with a thesis examining semantic fields in fashion and clothing in medieval poetry.

Her work bridges literary analysis with cultural history, exploring themes like gender representation, royal symbolism, and socio-political narratives embedded in medieval texts. Key areas include the study of female voices in medieval lyrics, the role of pilgrimage routes in cultural identity, and cross-cultural exchanges between Galicia and other Iberian regions.

Moran Cabanas is a member of the GRAALL research group, investigating linguistic and literary aspects of the Lusophone world. Her articles analyze topics ranging from clothing symbolism in poetry to the legacy of historical figures like D. Dinis and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
